Ducklings!

What an amazing experience! The children had the opportunity to watch the ducklings hatch and continue to grow before they returned to a life on a farm.
The duck eggs arrived at school on Monday the 13th of April and all the children had the opportunity to watch the ducklings in the incubator via a live online feed. Gradually, the ducklings began pipping (the crucial, final stage of a bird hatching where a chick uses its egg tooth to pierce the shell). Gradually, by Thursday morning, we had two hatched ducklings waiting for us all warm and snug in the incubator. Eventually, we had 4 fluffy, yellow ducklings all healthy and ready to grow.
Children had the opportunity to touch and watch the ducklings grow bigger every day, some even gave the ducklings a bath!
Our feathered friends have now returned to the farm and are continuing to thrive. Hatching the duck eggs every year has become a really significant event that staff and children look forward to.
Have a look at the website to see what happens to the ducklings on their return to the farm.
